Actress and fashion icon Mischa Barton apparently wants to make her mark in the world of consumer electronics. Well, that may be stretching things a bit. Barton probably just wants to make a huge fashion statement on a device that has come to be as much of a status symbol as it has a legitimate communications device.

So Barton teamed up with a company called UUnique London to create what was not only the world's most expensive iPhone case ever, but also the most expensive accessory of any kind for any of Apple's smartphone products. The result was a case emblazoned with 18-carat rose gold, pink, and white diamonds. The value? $302,985.

Of course, decking out already-pricey things to exorbitant amounts just by adding some jewelry has become a tradition across multiple industries pretty much since the beginning of time.

This creation was really more of UUnique's idea. It contacted Barton in the hopes of getting a celebrity deal, otherwise the entire project would be pretty much worthless. But with a star on board to help tout the incessantly expensive accessory, it's a different story.

There was an official launch party for the pimped-out case in London last week, and yes it is actually available for sale.

It was really a launching pad for the much more affordable new line of cases by Barton, "Unique by Mischa," which run for $40 to $960 - the most expensive one comes encrusted with Swarovsky crystals.
