iPhone 6 Rumors Camera

The iPhone 6 will reportedly feature a new Sony Exmor camera sensor, G for Games reports after picking up a post on a Chinese forum from a source that has “a great track record when it comes to Sony-related rumors.” According to the poster, the iPhone 6 camera will have an Exmor IMX220 sensor with 13-megapixel resolution, 1/2.3” and 1080p video recording support (3,840 x 1,080 resolution sampling).

The same person said the new Exmor sensor will also be used by Sony in the upcoming Xperia Z3 flagship handset, although Sony’s Android smartphone is said to have a 20-megapixel main camera.

Since the iPhone 4S, Apple has continually improved the iPhone’s camera performance without moving past 8-megapixels when it comes to resolution, even though it did change image sensors from model to model.

Earlier iPhone 6 rumors suggested that Apple would either stick with an 8-megapixel camera, or use a 10-megapixel camera.

The company is expected to further improve the camera of the iPhone, no matter what resolution it will have to offer, or what sensor it’ll use. For example, Apple may offer optical image stabilization to iPhone 6 buyers choosing the 5.5-inch model as a differentiating factor from the smaller 4.7-inch iPhone 6.

The iPhone is currently the most used camera on Flickr, with some professional photographers and even commercial makers relying only on the Apple’s iPhone to get their respective camera-related jobs done.
