Augmented reality headset was shelved to focus on iPhone

A report has surfaced that claims Apple was working on an augmented reality headset as early as 2006. The report claims that the idea was shelved because it was a curiosity compared to the iPhone. The news comes after many have been waiting for Apple to launch a competitor to Google Glass.

The tip that Apple was working on wearable computing device comes from two former employees. These employees say there are number of new products in the design lab at Apple and Windows is a headset is very similar to Google Class.

One former Google employee, Tony Fadell, it was a former iPod division head now CEO of Nest Labs says that the glasses were "the craziest thing" he was involved with during his time at the company. Fadell claims to have billed "launch" of prototype devices with the face mounted visor. The product sound like virtual reality headsets than Google Glass.
